The memory has an XMP speed of 6600 MT/s at a tested CAS latency of 32 nanoseconds. Its true latency is 9.69ns. This is an ECC (error-correcting code) memory, meaning it can correct bad data (if present) in real-time while reading back from stored data.

This kit is also offered in 7200 MT/s CL34 configuration in 2x24GB size.

Packaging

The kit is packed inside a red cardboard box, essentially the same packaging XPG has been using for all its Lancer DDR5 RGB kits.

On the front, we have the RAM pictured in the centre. The memory capacity and speed, XMP 3.0, and ASUS Aura Sync support are highlighted. On the back, we have a cutout showing the two modules and a sticker with the RAM product code and bar codes. We also have a QR code for product details and various compliance symbols.

Design

XPG Lancer ROG DDR5-6600 CL32 front and back

The kit has a similar layout to the regular XPG Lancer DDR5 but with a beautiful, crystal-clear mirrored finish. In comparison, the regular Lancer features a plain finish with a brushed aluminium texture on the rightmost section. The front has “ROG Certified” printed in the striped section, while the back has the XPG logo on the bottom right. On both sides, “DDR5” is printed on the striped section

The sticker on the back has the key specifications, a bar code, and certification marks. Removing this sticker voids the limited lifetime warranty offered with the kit.

Top of the module (Image by Tech4Gamers)

Looking at the top, we get a triangular cutout for the RGB diffuser. The top has the XPG logo, this time accompanied by the “ROG Certified” logo. You can control this RGB through AURA Sync or your motherboard manufacturer’s dedicated software. We’ll look at the RGB in a bit.

The module’s dimensions and weight are the same as those of other Lancer kits (133.35 x 43.56 x 8mm, 72.4g), with a height of 43.56mm.

WARNING: If you have an air cooler, ensure compatibility with the RAM, as this module’s height can cause compatibility issues with some coolers.

RGB

Here’s the RGB overview of the kit. It is very nicely and evenly diffused. ASUS’ Aura Sync allows you to use 8x different lighting modes. We used MSI’s Mystic Light sync software on our system, and things went smoothly.

Test Build

Here’s our test system for the kit:

We have chosen the EXPO profile for the kit so that it operates at advertised speeds. We left all other settings on default.

XPG Lancer ROG DDR5-6600 CL32 ZenTimings
ZenTimings (Image by Tech4Gamers)

The Ryzen 7000 memory controller runs at a 1:2 ratio with the memory at 6600 MT/s, as the Zen Timings menu shows. This will induce higher latency than normal—let’s get to that in our benchmarks.

Test Results

Let’s get into the results. We have compared this memory kit to the following others:

Our build with this kit showed chart-topping performance among the other DDR5 kits in AIDA64 read, write, and copy tests. Of course, the other kits are slightly slower DDR5-6000 (and DDR5-6400) kits, but this shows us that the kit is performing as it should.

However, the latency performance was relatively sub-optimal, at 74.4 ns. This is because the memory controller, which transfers data between the RAM and CPU cores, runs half as fast as the RAM. Thus, the RAM sends data faster to the controller than it can transfer to the cores, introducing a bottleneck

It’s better to run the kit at DDR5-6400 or 6000 MT/s so no extra latency is introduced. You will probably achieve the best performance at these speeds.

Cinebench R23 XPG Lancer ROG DDR5-6600 CL32
Cinebench R23.200 (Image by Tech4Gamers)

In the Cinebench R23 multi-core test, the CPU scored 18489 points paired with the XPG Lancer ROG-certified kit. However, all the kits are within a very close margin of each other.

Overall, the kit’s performance is excellent. It could do even better if latency wasn’t an issue. Of course, this won’t be a problem if the kit is run at 6000 (or possibly 6400 MT/s).

Should You Buy It?

Well… should you?

Buy It If:

✅You prefer sleek designs and good-looking RGB: The kit has a beautiful black mirror finish and a well-lit RGB bar up top, which makes for a pleasing design.

✅You’re running an ASUS ROG motherboard: The kit promises memory speeds of up to 7400 MT/s through a dedicated “ROG Certified” memory profile for users with ASUS ROG motherboards.

✅You want an ECC kit: This kit comes with built-in Error Code Correction.

Don’t Buy It If:

❌(For AMD users) You want the lowest latency: If you want the lowest latency, you’ll be better off with a DDR5-6000 (or DDR5-6400 if you’re lucky), which can run at 1:1 with the memory controller on Ryzen 7000/9000 CPUs. This can also save you $50 or more!

My Thoughts

The XPG Lancer ROG DDR5-6600 CL32 is a fantastic kit for those looking for fast memory that overclocks well, especially on ASUS ROG motherboards. XPG promises speeds of up to 7400 MT/s on ROG Z890 motherboards. It is particularly suitable for Intel builds over AMD ones, as even the latest AMD CPUs won’t be able to utilise this speed to the best potential. With a real-world latency of 9.69ns, its performance in our tests was satisfactory, toppling over DDR5-6000 and DDR5-6400 kits.

The kit has a unique “Black Mirror” theme, where the heatsinks feature a reflective black coating. It doesn’t differ much from the regular XPG Lancer DDR5 designs that we’ve seen, but this shiny new look does enough to add a touch of class. Its RGB diffuser offers very brightly lit LEDs that diffuse evenly across, making for a nice look. The RGB can be controlled through all the different motherboard manufacturer software.

In terms of height, the kit stands at 43.56mm–which makes it fairly tall and renders it incompatible with some dual-tower air coolers (ensure compatibility before purchase). XPG offers two variants of this kit: a 32 GB (2×16) DDR5-6600 CL32 model (reviewed today) and a 48 GB (2×24) DDR5-7200 CL34 offering. The 32 GB offering is priced at $159, which is not the friendliest tag, but it is alright considering its polished design. XPG offers a limited lifetime warranty for the kit.

Read Our G.Skill Trident Z Neo RGB 32GB DDR5 RAM Kit Review

I’m starting the list strong with the G.Skill Trident Z Neo RGB 32GB DDR5 RAM kit that provides incredible value, performance, and looks. Starting with the performance, the kit has a 6,000MHz frequency and CAS timings of CL30-38-38-96. Personally, I believe the 10ns latency could be a bit tighter on this kit, but otherwise, it’s pretty decent. During our dedicated testing, the RAM kit averaged 80,060MB/s in AIDA64 Engineer, winning against many competitors.

You can also easily overclock the G.Skill Trident Z by increasing the frequency by 200MHz without changing its CL timings. We would have loved to tighten the timings more, but the tRAS timings wouldn’t go lower without increasing the voltage, which wasn’t worth it. Besides its performance, the kit doesn’t fall behind in the looks department. For example, it provides a sleek and futuristic design with its aluminum-brushed heatsink, making it fit gloriously in almost all PC builds.

PRO TIP: Always overclock your RAM in smaller increments to ensure stability. If you increase the frequency too much, you might get a BSOD or crash the PC.

I pleasantly liked the RAM kit’s value and performance. Here’s what I said about the kit in my review:

The G.Skill Trident Z5 Neo RGB DDR5-6000 CL30 is for AMD enthusiasts with a little bit of budget constraint who don’t want to compromise that much on performance either. It looks great, performs well, and doesn’t cost as much as some of the competition. One of the best well-rounded RAMs in the market right now.

✅Buy It If
You’re looking for a sleek design with fast frequencies: If you’re looking for a RAM kit that’ll complement any PC’s aesthetics and provide decent frequencies, then the G.Skill Trident Z5 Neo RGB 32GB DDR5 RAM kit is for you. You’re getting a 6,000MHz frequency that can be overclocked to 6,200MHz, along with nice black looks on an aluminum-brushed heatsink with RGB at the top.
❌Don't Buy It If
You prefer tighter CAS timings: I don’t recommend buying the G.Skill Trident Z5 Neo RGB 32GB DDR5 RAM kit if you’re looking for faster CAS timings. While the CL30 timings and 10ns latency are pretty decent, the RAM kit could be tightened to 9.7ns or 9.8ns, improving overall performance. However, not even overclocking the kit tightens the timings.

What Makes It The Best Overall RAM For Ryzen 7 9800X3D?

The G.Skill Trident Z5 Neo RGB 32GB DDR5 RAM kit provides amazing performance when paired with high-end CPUs regardless of your use case scenario. Its frequencies can be overclocked manually, and the RGB lighting can be customized. It won’t pose any compatibility issues and has a decent price tag, making it the best overall RAM for the Ryzen 7 9800X3D.

Want the most performance out of your system with the Ryzen 7 9800X3D? Try pairing the CPU with the G.Skill Trident Z Neo RGB 32GB 6,400MHz RAM kit. According to our in-depth reviews, 6,400MHz is the sweet spot for the Ryzen 9000 series processors, so you won’t have to spend too much to get the best performance without leaving anything on the table. The kit averaged 84,192MB/s write speeds in AIDA64 Engineer in our tests, proving it is the sweet spot for the 9800X3D.

With AMD EXPO enabled, the voltage sits at 1.40V, so it’s already slightly higher than usual. Besides the faster frequency, the tighter 9.375ns latency timings also help improve gaming performance. There’s not much to comment about the RAM kit’s aesthetics as they are the same as the 6,000MHz kit I discussed above. Moreover, because the kit is only 42mm tall, I love the clearance it provides for beefier air coolers.

Here’s what I had to say after I put the G.Skill Trident Z Neo RGB 6,400MHz RAM kit on my test bench:

The G. Skill Trident Z5 Neo RGB follows the classic design of this lineup to bring us another high-performance kit. With an EXPO speed of DDR5-6400 at CL30, the memory runs at an ultra-low latency of 9.375 and shows excellent performance in our benchmarks. All in all, it’s a great choice for a Ryzen 9000 CPU that can run this kit at 1:1 with the memory controller.

✅Buy It If
You require high-performance RAM that won’t interfere with a beefy air cooler: If you’re looking for a RAM kit that provides excellent performance when paired with the Ryzen 7 9800X3D and won’t interfere with your beefy air cooler, then I recommend purchasing the G.Skill Trident Z Neo RGB 32GB 6,400MHz DDR5 kit. It’s only 42mm tall and provides incredible performance without needing to be manually overclocked.
❌Don't Buy It If
You want a stable kit with lower voltage requirements: If you’re new to PC building and don’t want to handle a RAM kit with a higher voltage with AMD EXPO enabled, then I don’t recommend buying this kit because its voltage goes up to 1.40V. You’re better off with the 6,000MHz variant with a voltage rating of 1.35V.

What Makes It The Best Performance RAM For Ryzen 7 9800X3D?

I love the G.Skill Trident Z Neo RGB 32GB 6,400MHz DDR5 RAM kit’s outstanding performance, which makes it best suited for high-end Ryzen 9000 series. Moreover, it has beautiful aesthetics, a decent heatsink to keep the module cool, and doesn’t cost a ton. Hence, the points mentioned above make it the best performance RAM for the Ryzen 7 9800X3D.

Editor`s Note

If you’re building a PC with the Ryzen 7 9800X3D, it’s safe to assume you only want the most high-end products in your build. If so, the G.Skill Trident Z Royal Neo 32GB DDR5 6,000MHz RAM kit is where you should be eyeing yourself. You’re getting the lowest latency from any product in this listicle, at 9.33ns. The frequency is pretty standard, ranging at 6,000MHz. However, that doesn’t stop it from obliterating its competition in our performance benchmarks. To explain, it averaged 81,890MB/s write speeds in AIDA64 Engineer.

What differentiates this RAM kit from its competition isn’t its performance and glamorous aesthetics. When you take it out of the box, you’ll realize why it has a premium price tag. The RGB diffuser at the top comes with a crystalline lightbar with electroplated heat spreaders and a mirrored finish, improving the kit’s already amazing aesthetics. I’d consider this RAM kit for my personal rig if it weren’t so expensive, but you shouldn’t pass up on it if you have the budget.

I absolutely loved the kit’s look. This is what I said in my review:

The G.Skill Trident Z5 Royal Neo DDR5-6000 CL28 is a high-end kit that comes with a lot of performance under the hood. G.Skill has truly gone overboard with this kit. Top-notch performance combined with one of the best-looking lighting effects, this kit has been designed for gamers, designers, and professionals who won’t settle for anything but the best, of course, given that they can afford its premium pricing.

✅Buy It If
You are after a distinct design: The G.Skill Trident Z Royal Neo 32GB DDR5 RAM kit provides some of the most unique aesthetics I have seen in RAM modules since DDR4 kits. If you are looking for such an extravagant product, then this RAM kit is what you’re looking for.

You want the lowest possible latency: In addition to its beauty, the G.Skill Trident Z Royal Neo 32GB DDR5 RAM kit has the lowest latency in this listicle at 9.33ns. So, if that’s what you’re after, you know which RAM kit to purchase now.

❌Don't Buy It If
You’re on a tighter budget: I don’t recommend purchasing this RAM kit if you’re on a tighter budget, as its price tag is above the sky right now. You’ll need a pot of gold to afford such a luxurious PC component.

Read Our Corsair Dominator Platinum RGB 32GB 6,000MHz DDR5 RAM Kit Review

The Corsair Dominator Platinum RGB 32GB 6,000MHz DDR5 RAM kit perfectly complements a white PC build with the Ryzen 7 9800X3D. I’ll cover its performance first. With a 6,000MHz frequency, you get a decent 10ns latency, making its on-paper specifications pretty standard. However, our testing showed a different story when the kit averaged 81,437MB/s write speeds in AIDA64 Engineer. We didn’t overclock the kit, but you can try tightening the timings to see a performance improvement.

For its aesthetics, the Corsair Dominator Platinum is clad in white with beautiful RGB lighting at the top cover. To make things interesting, you can remove and replace the top cover with another design based on how you want the kit to look. Of course, the RGB is easily customizable through the iCUE software, so you don’t have to worry about that aspect. What I dislike about this kit, though, is its height. Reigning at 56mm tall, the kit can pose a threat if you use a beefy air cooler.

After I was done testing the RAM, here’s what I commented about it in my review:

The Corsair Dominator Titanium RGB DDR5-6000 32GB CL30 is a high-end Premium RAM, that not only performs well but comes with that aesthetic appeal as well. Corsair has created a well-rounded product to cater to its customers. If you’re looking for RAM that will let you push your CPU to its limits as it’s supposed to, then this RAM is for you!

✅Buy It If

Read Our Corsair Vengeance RGB 6,000MHz 32GB DDR5 RAM Kit Review

Don’t have much money left in your budget after purchasing the Ryzen 7 9800X3D? Don’t worry; the Corsair Vengeance RGB 6,000MHz 32GB DDR5 RAM kit has your back (and pockets) secured with its amazing price-to-performance ratio. In our dedicated testing, the Corsair Vengeance was almost on par with the Corsair Dominator Platinum, averaging 81,393MB/s write speeds in AIDA64 Engineer. Coincidentally, the frequency and latency timings are similar, so the temperatures must be causing the difference in performance.

Unlike the Dominator Platinum, the Corsair Vengeance has bad overclocking potential, and this is where the actual difference between the two kits starts. We could only increase its frequency by 133MHz by increasing the voltage to 1.435V. Other than that, though, the Vengeance is amazing in all aspects. You get a decent heatsink design, cool A-RGB lighting on the top cover, and Intel XMP 3.0 and AMD EXPO support.

After testing the Corsair Vengeance RGB 6,000MHz RAM kit on his test bench, I fell in love with its outrageous value. This is how I summarized my hands-on review:

The Corsair Vengeance RGB DDR5 6000 MHz CL30 is a pure price-to-performance RAM that performs at a high level and also comes with an aesthetic vibe. It’s a well-rounded product that Corsair has designed to cater to its valued customers. If you’re looking for a balanced RAM that gives you performance and looks good while doing it, this kit is designed for gamers like you.

✅Buy It If
You want multi-setup support on a lower budget: If you’re an enthusiast who changes your PC build every generation and doesn’t want to keep changing the RAM every time, then I recommend buying the Corsair Vengeance RGB 6,000MHz 32GB DDR5 RAM kit because it supports the latest Intel and AMD processors. Moreover, it is cheaper, so you’re also saving a lot of money.
❌Don't Buy It If
You want to overclock your RAM: If you want to achieve decent overclocks on the RAM, then I don’t recommend buying this kit. During our testing, we only managed to increase the frequency by 133MHz at 1.435V. To keep the overclocks stable, we loosened the timings by two clock cycles to CL30-38-38-78, making the overclocks rudimentary.

What Makes It The Best Value RAM For Ryzen 7 9800X3D?

Despite not costing much, the Corsair Vengeance RGB 6,000MHz 32GB DDR5 RAM kit exudes innumerable performance, standing toe-to-toe against the more premium Dominator Platinum kit. Besides its performance, you’re getting decent black aesthetics with good RGB lighting, a lifetime warranty, and multi-setup support for Intel and AMD builds, making it the best value RAM for the Ryzen 7 9800X3D.

Important RAM Terms To Look Out For

  • EXPO: Like Intel’s XMP feature, EXPO is AMD’s variant. It allows users to overclock RAM kits according to their pre-configured settings with higher frequency and lower latencies.
  • DIMM SlotsThese are slots next to the CPU socket on the motherboard where RAM kits are installed. Depending on their size, most motherboards have two to four slots. Before installing, look through your motherboard’s manual to determine the fastest DIMM channels for optimum performance.
  • FrequencyA RAM kit’s frequency means how fast it can send data to a CPU. Frequencies are measured in Megahertz (MHz) or Gigahertz (GHz). Most DDR5 RAM kits start from 5,600MHz; high-end kits can exceed 9,000MHz. Generally, higher frequency means greater performance, but tight CL timings are equally important.
  • CAS LatencyAbbreviated as Column Address Strobe latency or CL timings, CAS latency shows the time required for a RAM kit to make data available, which the CPU requested. Tighter CL timings equate to faster data processing and better overall PC performance. You can also calculate the latency in nanoseconds.
  • HeatsinkMost RAM kits today come with an integrated heat spreader or heatsink to improve the module’s cooling capabilities. The colder a RAM kit runs, the better it can be overclocked.
  • Voltage: The voltage showcases a RAM kit’s power consumption. Lower voltage consumption means better efficiency and greater overclocking potential. However, it can also lead to lower performance. When overclocking your kit, increasing the voltage can help tighten the timings and increase the RAM’s frequency.

How We Tested The Best RAM For Ryzen 7 9800X3D

To determine which RAM kits to add to this listicle, I considered various factors such as overall performance, design, overclocking capabilities, and value for money. Here are some details for all of these factors:

  • Performance: One of the most important factors is how well a RAM kit performs with your CPU. Therefore, I only chose RAM kits that provided the most performance with the Ryzen 7 9800X3. Most of our testing was done on AIDA64 Engineer, Cinebench R23, and a few CPU-heavy games.
  • Overclocking PotentialThis factor is more critical for enthusiasts who want to achieve the most out of their PC hardware. There are two ways to overclock RAM kits. The first is by using AMD EXPO or Intel XMP settings, while the second is by manually overclocking the kits. Hence, I chose kits with decent manual overclocking potential and multiple AMD EXPO settings.
  • Value For Money: No matter your budget, I don’t recommend buying PC hardware with diminishing returns. You always want components that provide better value for their price. Therefore, when choosing the RAM kits for the Ryzen 7 9800X3D, I targeted the ones that cost less but provided more, such as the Corsair Vengeance RGB 32GB 6,000MHz DDR5 RAM kit.
  • Design: Although not the most essential factor to consider, if you’re investing over $1,000 in your new PC build, you might as well make it flashy for the eyes. When it comes to design, you never know what a consumer might be looking for; that’s why I tried to create as much diversity as possible in my product listings to keep everyone happy.

Read Our Corsair Dominator Titanium DDR5-7200 C34 Kit Review

If you’re on the hunt to combine your Ryzen 7 7800X3D with the best-performing DDR5 RAM, then the XPG Lancer RGB kit should be your top priority. The kit boasts a sleek design with brushed aluminum finish as well as cut out in the middle for the RGB diffuser which enhances the RGB effects when they’re lit.

The memory kit offers an impressive 7200 MHz frequency right out of the box alongside the CL34-46-46-116 CAS timings. However, it doesn’t stop there, as it exhibits the potential for further tuning. Our tests proved that the memory’s frequency can be pushed further to 7800 MHz as well as making the CAS timings much tighter to CL34-44-44-96 at 1.5V to maximize the Ryzen 7 7800X3D’s performance.

Other than that, this is what Nauman Siddique has to say about the RAM, who reviewed it himself:

The XPG Lancer RGB 32GB DDR5 kit delivers exceptional performance, rivaling binary DDR5 kits. Its impressive overclocking capabilities, dual-platform support, and error correction function make it an excellent choice for enthusiasts. Priced at USD 169.99, it offers compatibility with popular RGB sync technologies and features a sleek design with a CNIC-milled aluminum heat spreader.

Buy It If

You want top-of-the-line performance: The XPG Lancer RGB should be your pick if you’re looking for top-tier performance as it delivers that with its 7200 MHz frequency while having a low CAS34 latency.

If you’re into RGB stuff: The XPG Lancer has eye-catching RGB lighting and is also compatible with almost all RGB sync software for your ease — making it an easy pick for those who prefer RGB.

Don't Buy It If

You are an air cooler guy: The RAM is 40 mm tall, which means that it might not fit the best with some air coolers, especially those that tend to go over the RAM area as well.

What Makes It The Best Performance RAM For Ryzen 7 7800X3D?

Read Our Corsair Dominator Titanium DDR5-7200 C34 Kit Review

If you want to pair your Ryzen 7 7800X3D with the most performance-packed DDR5 kit, I highly recommend you go with the Corsair Dominator Titanium. First up, it is hands-down one of the most beautiful and sleek-looking kits I have ever used. The design of its aluminium cover is completely different from any other kit. Plus, the raw performance, thanks to AMD EXPO, is unparalleled. With a solid 7,200MHz frequency, CL34 timing, and an impressively low 9.44ns latency, the Dominator Titanium beautifully complements the hardcore performance of the 7800X3D – leaving no room for any compromises.

Honestly, if you want the best performance out of the box with no manual tweaking, I doubt there is any RAM that can top the Corsair Dominator Titanium, especially with those looks. However, I have to say, apart from the steep pricing, it also has pretty much no overclocking potential.

When our very own Nauman Siddiqui took it for a spin, he could only get it to 7600MHz at a whopping 1.52V, so don’t expect much overclocking support. Still, hear it in his own words:

The kit competes well in performance, though there is limited overclocking headroom. Unique features like RGB lighting effects and the option to switch to a fin assembly design add a distinctive touch. Overall, we recommend this RAM.

Buy It If

You want the most performance out of the box: If you don’t want to mess around with manual overclocking, the Dominator Titanium offers a solid 7,200MHz frequency @ CL34 timings with AMD EXPO.

You want a beautiful kit: Apart from RGB lighting, the design philosophy of the Dominator Titanium is unlike any other kit out there, making it a treat to look at.

Don't Buy It If

You prefer some overclocking headroom: If you love some manual tweaking yourself for the best possible performance, the Titanium’s limited overclocking potential is going to be a disappointment.

You’re using a big air cooler: With a height of 57mm, I wouldn’t recommend this kit to those building a compact PC or with a big air cooler, as there is a chance it can obstruct the cooler’s fan.

What Makes It The Best White RAM For Ryzen 7 7800X3D?

Just by going over the numbers, it is pretty obvious that the sheer amount of performance that Corsair has packed into the kit, along with its drop-dead gorgeous design, is what makes it my recommended RAM option for gamers who want the best white for their Ryzen 7 7800X3D. Sure, it carries an expensive price tag, but the performance more than makes up for it.

  • Low profile build

Cons

  • Not recommended to overclockers

Read Our G.Skill Flare X5 32GB DDR5-6000 CL30 Kit Review

The G.Skill Flare X5 32GB DDR5 RAM kit showcases a simple design, excluding RGB, making it a difficult fit for better-lit PC builds. However, I loved that the RAM kit utilizes a honeycomb design to prevent thermal throttling, providing better overclocking potential. The 6,000MHz frequency with CL30 timings offers great performance. During my performance testing at 1440p and 4K resolutions, I saw no issues in video editing and gaming at max settings.

Of course, I can’t just recommend a DDR5 RAM without overclocking it. Well, we got it to 6600MHz @ 1.42V. Since the timing remains tight at CL30, the latency is reduced to 9.09ns. While these are good numbers, it’s not the ideal RAM for overclocking due to the low-profile heat spreader. Nevertheless, the AMD EXPO support that makes it clock at 6000MHz is still quite good for the 7800X3D.

This is what Mussab Ali, our specialized RAM tester and reviewer, said about the Flare X5 in his dedicated hands-on review of the kit:

The G.SKILL Flare X5 DDR5-6000 CL30 is a great choice for PC builders on a budget, especially if you’re working with an AMD setup. It’s designed for those who want a solid, entry-level build without breaking the bank. If you’re looking to keep costs down while still getting reliable performance, this RAM is a perfect fit.

Buy It If

You want the best bang for the buck: If you’re looking for a RAM kit that provides insane value while also offering great performance, I suggest you go for the G.Skill Flare X5 32GB DDR5 RAM kit.

You want a low-profile RAM: Along with solid performance, the Flare X5 is also a low-profile RAM with a 33mm height, making it a great option for mini-ITX or MicroATX builds.

Don't Buy It If

You want to overclock it: While the 6000MHz frequency with CL30 latency offers more than enough performance for 7800X3D, if you still plan on overclocking, I wouldn’t recommend it due to the smaller heat-spreader.

What Makes It The Best Value RAM For Ryzen 7 7800X3D?

If one looks at the high-performing capabilities and reliability of G.Skill Flare X5 32GB DDR5-6000, which comes at an affordable price, it turns out to offer the most value for money on the market today, and let’s not forget its exceptional overclocking capabilities.

Read Our CORSAIR Vengeance RGB DDR5-6000 CL30 Review

If your day-to-day usage exceeds the 32GB capacity of my other recommended picks, I suggest you go with the CORSAIR Vengeance RGB 64GB instead. Despite the high capacity, the kit does not compromise on performance one bit to offer the best gaming experience possible. It clocks at 6,000MHz while maintaining a CL30 latency, and in all my tests, the kit ran flawlessly.

With the RGB lightbar on top and a white heat spreader, it also nails the aesthetics department. But most impressively, I love its overclocking potential. Sure, you get plenty of performance with AMD EXPO @ 6,000MHz, but in our in-house testing, we got the kit rocking at a solid 6,800MHz with CL36 latency @ 1.45V. In synthetic benchmarks, we saw a good 10%+ difference in read/write operations.

Speaking of the performance, here’s what Mussab Ali said in his review:

The Corsair Vengeance RGB is a pure price-to-performance RAM that performs at a high level and also comes with an aesthetic vibe. It’s a well-rounded product that Corsair has designed to cater to its valued customers. If you’re looking for a balanced RAM that gives you performance and looks good while doing it, this kit is designed for gamers like you.

Buy It If

You want the perfect performance out of a 64GB kit: Along with great numbers on paper, even my own test results shows that the CORSAIR Vengeance RGB DDR5 offers great performance to go along with the Ryzen 7 7800X3D.

You like manual overclocking: Other than AMD EXPO, the kit offers exceptional overclocking headroom as we managed to squeeze +800MHz out of it in our testing.

You are building a white build: I would also recommend this kit to those building a white gaming PC, as its white color looks phenomenal.

Don't Buy It If

You don’t want to spend top-dollar: The only reason you should not buy this RAM is if you’re on a budget and want something more affordable. Sure, the Vengeance RGB has the performance and the looks, but it is also rather expensive.

What Makes It The Best 64GB RAM For Ryzen 7 7800X3D?

There are several reasons why I picked the Corsair Vengeance RGB for this award: It looks beautiful, can be overclocked, runs very stable, and, in all my tests, offers great performance. Plus, while it is an expensive kit, it is not an overpriced RAM. It more than makes up for the pricing with its extensive features.

Our Test Results

The Ryzen 7 7800X3D is no doubt an exceptional CPU, and that’s why I had to be very careful when selecting the right RAM for it. Well, to make sure my recommendations are truly the best, my team and I tested a bunch of different DDR5 RAM kits. Here are their AIDA64 results:

How I Tested & Selected These RAM Kits For The Ryzen 7 7800X3D

Ryzen 7 7800X3D
Ryzen 7 7800X3D (Image By Tech4Gamers)

While choosing the most optimal RAM options for Ryzen 7 7800X3D, you’ll likely want to maximize the processor’s overall performance and increase the PC’s speed. For this purpose, the user will explore different products and do thorough research. Therefore, I have mentioned important factors to consider when purchasing.

  • Budget: When choosing RAM, purchasing an expensive memory can be very heavy on the pocket. However, one must go for the value-for-money options; even if it is a little bit out of budget, if it comes with higher frequencies, lower latency, solid build quality, and supports your CPU, then one should go for it.
  • Performance: Performance is the key factor for selecting any RAM for your CPU. When talking about performance, I am talking about the frequency and latency timing; high frequency and low latency timings effectively boost CPU performance.
  • Aesthetics: Aesthetics is a personal preference, and some customers and enthusiasts prioritize it even over performance when buying RAM. Most companies offer good designs and RGB lighting; others offer minimal designs and flashy heat-spreader designs, while others do not.
  • Compatibility: Before making the purchase decision, one must examine if the options are compatible with the CPU they will fit the RAM with. If there is incompatibility with the CPU regarding the memory interface or higher frequency, your purchase will go to waste.

Today, we are taking a look at the G. Skill Trident Z5 Neo RGB DDR5-6400 kit. This is a 32GB (2×16) single-rank kit. We’ve already taken a look at the DDR5-6000 kit, and this follows the exact same design. DDR5-6400, of course, is the sweet spot for the Ryzen 9000 series CPUs if you hit your luck in the silicon lottery (more on that later). For now, let’s get into the review.

Key Takeaways

  • The G. Skill Trident Z5 Neo RGB DDR5-6400 CL30 is a 32GB kit from G. Skill’s all-familiar series, offering the same pleasing aesthetics and impressive performance at $119.
  • You should buy this kit if you’re looking for an ideal memory kit for your Ryzen 9000 CPU without needing to overclock and/or if you prefer a kit with nice, balanced aesthetics.
  • Don’t get this memory if you have a Ryzen 7000 series CPU (the memory will likely run at a 2:1 ratio with UCLK) and/or are running a bulky air cooler whose RAM clearance is less than 42mm.

Take a look at the specifications:

Tested Speed 6400 MT/s
Tested Latency CL30
RGB Yes
Color Black
Memory Voltage 1.40V
Rated Speed (JEDEC) 4800 MT/s
XMP Yes
EXPO Yes
Warranty Limited Lifetime
[toc]

Compared to the DDR5-6000 kit, this one operates at 1.40V with EXPO. Memory timings have been tightening at 30-39-39-102. CAS Latency is the same, so the kit’s overall latency is 9.375ns.

WARNING: Refer to the Qualified Vendors List to ensure compatibility with your motherboard.

DDR5-6400: Ryzen 9000’s Sweetspot

With a few tweaks from AMD to the memory controller on the Ryzen 9000 chips, it is now possible to run these CPUs coupled with DDR5-6400 memory at a 1:1 ratio. The 1:1 ratio is, of course, between the memory clock (MCLK) and the unified memory controller clock (UCLK). With increasing memory speeds, it becomes difficult for the memory controller to catch up. That’s why the Ryzen 7000 CPUs switch to a 1:2 ratio beyond DDR5-6000.

Best memory speed for Ryzen 9000 CPUs table
Ryzen 9000: Ideal frequencies (Image by Tech4Gamers)

Only in the rarest of cases you’ll end up with a Ryzen 7000 CPU that will run DDR5-6400 memory at a 1:1 ratio. For the Ryzen 9000, the chances are greater, but it still depends on your luck in the silicon lottery, whether or not you’ll end up with a CPU memory controller good enough.

Editor`s Note
Image

We generally do not recommend purchasing this kit for a Ryzen 7000 series CPU and would instead recommend a DDR5-6000 kit. Our Ryzen 7 7800X3D was able to support this kit while maintaining the 1:1 ratio, but again, this is an exceptional case that you likely won’t experience.

Packaging and Unboxing

Let’s take a look inside the box.

This is the same packaging as the DDR5-6000 kit we tested. Up front, we have a print of the kits in front (this kit is also available in white), and EXPO support is mentioned. A cut-out shows us the memory kit inside a plastic clamshell packaging.

The back of the box shows us cut-outs for the memory again, displaying the sticker on which you can find the memory’s key specifications. We get some certification marks and compliance symbols and assurance that the RGB can be controlled by different motherboard software.

G. Skill Trident Z5 Neo RGB box contents
Box contents (Image by Tech4Gamers)

We get the memory itself, a card that gives us some basic tips, tricks, and cautions about the RAM, and a G. Skill sticker to proudly don on your chassis.

Design

It’s time to dive a bit deeper into the design.

The Trident Z5 Neo RGB black variant matches the other kits we’ve looked at from this lineup; nothing new. You get a matte black + solid black aesthetic on the heat spreaders, with two silver linings running across the kit. The exterior is matte black, while the central inlay has a brushed aluminum texture and the “Trident Z5 Neo RGB” branding.

Of course, we also have the all-familiar light bar up top, which is definitely our favorite part of these kits. We’ll look at the RGB illumination in a little bit. The RGB lighting can be controlled through G. Skill’s software or your motherboard vendor’s utility. It supports ASUS Aura Sync, ASRock Polychrome Sync, Gigabyte RGB Fusion 2.0, and MSI’s Mystic Light Sync software.

G. Skill Trident Z5 Neo RGB design

The memory height comes in at 42mm, again, like any Trident Z5 kit you’ll come across. This height makes it ideal for most setups without any clearance issues.

G. Skill Trident Z5 Neo RGB sticker
Module sticker (Image by Tech4Gamers)

Looking at the sticker, we have some basic information about the kit, including the serial number. We can also note that this uses A-die ICs from SK-Hynix, evident from the letters and numbers above the barcode. This is a 2x16G kit. Do not remove the sticker, as that will void the warranty.

RGB

Here’s a gallery of some RGB goodness. The kit’s lighting looks fantastic, and we had no problems controlling it through MSI’s Mystic Light software on our test bench.

Test Build

Time to get into the test build! Here’s our system:

We used Cinebench R23 and the AIDA64 suite for testing. Here is a look at the CPU-Z configuration for our setup:

G. Skill Trident Z5 Neo RGB CPU-Z
CPU-Z (Image by Tech4Gamers)

Let’s take a look at the ZenTimings menu.

G. Skill Trident Z5 Neo RGB memory timings
Memory timings via ZenTimings (Image by Tech4Gamers)

We successfully ran our kit at 3200 MHz (DDR5-6400) while maintaining the 1:1 ratio between MCLK and UCLK. Also, we pushed the Infinity Fabric clock (FCLK) to 2133 MHz, marking that sweet spot 2:3 ratio of FCLK to MCLK and UCLK.

Test Results

Let’s get into the test results. We have compared this kit’s performance to the following other kit to get the best idea of its performance:

Our Trident Z5 Neo RGB DDR5-6400 kit stood out in read, write, and copy operations, beating all competitors in our list. However, the memory latency test proved problematic; it was the slowest of the bunch, at 70.2 nanoseconds.

Of course, there is plenty of room to obtain better memory latency through some manual tunings, like increasing the tREFI and using power-down mode. However, we decided to stick with stock settings to determine how this stick performs with only its EXPO profile.

Cinebench R23.200 test G. Skill Trident Z5 Neo RGB
Cinebench R23.200 CPU multi-core test (Image by Tech4Gamers)

Our CPU is also top-scored in the Cinbench R23.200 multi-threaded benchmark, albeit by a very narrow margin.

Overall, the performance numbers are great and up to the mark, but this kit did fall behind the rest in latency numbers, despite us hitting ideal clock settings.

Should You Buy It?

Let’s conclude.

Buy It If:

✅ You want fast memory for Ryzen 9000: If you want the best memory speeds for your Ryzen 9000 CPU without needing to tune anything manually, this is the kit for you.

✅ RGB is a priority: If you like a memory kit that lights up, the G. Skill Trident Z5 Neo RGB kits offer some of the best implementations we’ve seen, with a dedicated light bar.

✅ You need RAM that won’t interfere with your CPU cooler: With its 42mm height, most air coolers should fit right in with the kit.

Don’t Buy It If:

❌ You’re running older Ryzen 7000 CPUs: Unless you’re running one of the X3D Ryzen 7000 CPUs, you’ll probably be better off with a DDR5-6000 kit, as the memory controller will most certainly run at half the frequency with this kit.

❌ You want the best out-of-the-box performance: Mushkin’s Redline Lumina and ST kits offer better timings at DDR5-6400 than this kit, at around the same price.

My Thoughts

The G.Skill Trident Z5 Neo RGB is an excellent kit, and there’s no doubt about it, as we’ve tested other kits out of this lineup before. For a Ryzen 9000 CPU, the kit should serve you well, as these CPUs are more likely to allow DDR5-6400 memory to run at a 1:1 ratio between MCLK and UCLK.

A little recap of the specifications, this kit operates at timings of 30-39-39-102 at a voltage of 1.40V (with its EXPO profile). At default, it runs at the JEDEC speed of 4800 MT/s at 1.10 volts.

The kit offers the same mix of solid black and matte black and an RGB light bar that looks fantastic when lit up. Aesthetically, the design stands out for us; it’s not too extravagant (like the G. Skill Trident Z5 Royal Neo kits) and not too simple (G. Skill Flare X5). This kit is also available in white.

Its intermediate height of 42mm should make it fit with most air coolers, though some big dogs, like the Noctua NH-D15 G2, won’t fit in their dual-fan configurations.

G.Skill is one of the first to offer DDR5-6400 kits to couple with the new Ryzen 9000 CPU, and the kit is priced at $119.99. That is $10 more than the G. Skill Trident Z5 Neo RGB DDR5-6000 (CL30) for a mild overclock. Competing kits are Mushkin’s Redline Lumina ($124.99) and G.Skill’s Trident Z5 Royal Neo ($149.99). The Redline Lumina has tighter timings than this kit for $5 more.

Important RAM Key Terms

When buying RAM in 2023, be sure to keep the following key terms in mind.

  1. DIMM Slots: DIMM slots, or Dual In-Line Memory Module slots, are physical connectors on a computer’s motherboard designed to hold and connect RAM modules. The number of DIMM slots on a motherboard determines the maximum amount of RAM that can be installed in the system, as well as the potential for memory channel configurations.
  2. DDR (Double Data Rate): DDR is a type of synchronous DRAM that transfers data on both the rising and falling edges of the clock signal, effectively doubling the data transfer rate compared to single data rate memory.
  3. Frequency: RAM frequency, also known as clock speed, measures the speed at which data can be transferred to and from RAM in cycles per second (Hertz). Higher frequencies generally result in better memory performance.
  4. Latency: RAM latency refers to the delay between a request for data and the moment that data becomes available for use, impacting overall system performance.
  5. Voltage: RAM voltage refers to the electrical voltage supplied to a computer’s memory modules (RAM). It is an important parameter because different RAM modules require different voltage levels for proper operation.
  6. CAS Latency (CL): CAS latency is a specific type of RAM latency that measures the delay between a read command and the actual data retrieval, expressed in clock cycles.
  7. ECC (Error-Correcting Code): ECC RAM includes additional error-checking and correction capabilities to detect and fix memory errors, commonly used in servers and workstations for data integrity.
  8. Dual-Channel and Quad-Channel: These terms refer to the memory configuration in which two or four memory modules work in parallel to increase memory bandwidth and performance.

How We Picked The Best RAM For i9-14900K

Since the Core i9-14900K is a premium flagship CPU, choosing the best RAM for this processor can be a challenge. Many novice builders already find the process of purchasing memory a bit tedious, and the new DDR4 vs. DDR5 debate adds even more doubt to the process.

Fret not, as here are some key factors to consider when purchasing the ideal RAM for your Core i9-14900K.

  • Frequency and Latency: As is common with high-end CPUs, the Core i9-14900K CPU is designed to take advantage of high RAM frequencies. However, it is important to also consider CAS latency (CL), as lower latency values can improve responsiveness, especially in tasks that rely heavily on random memory access.
  • Overclocking Potential: Modules with XMP (Extreme Memory Profile) support can simplify the initial overclocking process. However, you can even improve its performance even further by manually overclocking the RAM. Look for RAM kits with good heat dissipation solutions, as overclocking can generate additional heat. Memory kits with high base voltages are also great for overclocking.
  • Thermals and Efficiency: Heat spreaders, heatsinks, and even liquid cooling solutions can help dissipate heat effectively. When shopping for a new RAM kit, it is ideal to consider those modules that have a proper heat spreader for efficient heat dissipation.
  • DDR4 vs. DDR5: Since the Core i9-14900K CPU supports both DDR4 and DDR5 memory, you will have to consider this decision as well. DDR5 RAM offers a significant performance boost over DDR4, with faster data transfer rates and the potential for greater capacity. However, consider DDR4 if you want to save a buck on the memory and motherboard, but be aware that DDR4 memory has limited future upgrade potential.
  • Aesthetics and Build Quality: While aesthetics are subjective, ensure that the RAM you choose fits the physical constraints of your case and works with your CPU cooler. You should also make sure that the RAM matches the design language of your PC and the aesthetic appeal of the other components in your system.
  • Platform Compatibility: Always check your motherboard’s compatibility list (QVL) to ensure that the RAM you choose is officially supported. Moreover, it is important to choose XMP-certified memory to ensure proper optimization for the Core i9-14900K.

Right off the bat, the G.Skill Trident Z5 Neo RGB DDR5 6000 CL30’s stunning design is what stood out to me the most. The kit uses a dual-tone accent on its heatsink, with the white stripes adding to the appeal. RGB is also well-integrated with the RGB bar spanning across the entire module. In our tests, the kit managed to perform really well thanks to its 6000 MHz speed and the CAS30 latency.

The latency, as measured in nanoseconds, comes in at 10ns, which is a respectable figure. You can use our RAM latency calculator to measure the latency (in nanoseconds) of any DDR5 kit. I found the overclocking potential to be fairly reasonable as well, allowing you to take the module up to 6200 MHz without changing any of the timings. Naturally, a voltage increase is going to be required for these kinds of overclocks.

Take a look at what our hardware tester, Mussab Ali, said about the G.Skill Trident Z5 Neo in his review:

The G.Skill Trident Z5 Neo RGB DDR5-6000 CL30 is for AMD enthusiasts with a little bit of budget constraint and don’t want to compromise that much on performance either. It looks great, performs well, and doesn’t cost as much as some of the competition. One of the best well-rounded RAMs in the market right now.

WARNING: Make sure your CPU cooler provides enough RAM clearance before purchasing an RGB module such as this one.
Buy It If

You want an aesthetically pleasing kit with remarkable performance: The G.Skill Trident Z5 Neo RGB provided excellent results in our tests while also keeping up in terms of aesthetics.

Don't Buy It If

You have a limited budget: Despite the solid real-world performance in our tests, the G.Skill Trident Z5 Neo RGB DDR5 6000 CL30 is not going to be the best option for those working with a limited budget.

What Makes It The Best Overall RAM?

The G.Skill Trident Z5 Neo RGB CL30 essentially provides the best possible performance, a decent amount of overclocking headroom as well as a great look, which is why I have deemed it the Best Overall RAM for all Ryzen 9000 processors.

Read Our G.Skill Flare X5 Review

The G.Skill Flare X5 32GB DDR5-6000 CL30 has a fairly simple look, with a plain black heat spreader that consists of little to no design elements. RGB is also entirely absent, although I found that perforations have been added to the right side of the heat spreader for better thermal performance. I was happy to see that its height only comes in at 33mm, which makes it ideal for small form factor builds.

Despite the simple design, the RAM kit packs fantastic performance, with a speed of 6000 MHz and a CL30 latency, which translates to exactly 10 nanoseconds. Overclocking headroom is also present, with the kit allowing for speeds of up to 6200 MHz with a slight voltage uplift. That only nets a small performance increase for most modern systems; however, it is nice to see that you can go up to that range.

When Mussab Ali, our RAM expert, reviewed the G.Skill Flare X5, he praised it for its value – saying:

The G.SKILL Flare X5 DDR5-6000 CL30 is a great choice for PC builders on a budget, especially if you’re working with an AMD setup. It’s designed for those who want a solid, entry-level build without breaking the bank. If you’re looking to keep costs down while still getting reliable performance, this RAM is a perfect fit.

Buy It If

You are working with a larger air cooler: The RAM kit’s lower-profile design makes it a perfect pair for chunkier air coolers that might not have the best RAM clearance.

You want solid value-for-money: If value-for-money is what you are after, there aren’t a lot of kits that can compete with the G.Skill Flare X5 32GB DDR5-6000 CL30.

Don't Buy It If

You want a better design: While I wasn’t dissatisfied with its design, there’s no denying that its appearance is fairly simple, which might not suit everyone’s preference.

What Makes It The Best Value RAM?

The G.Skill Flare X5 32GB provides a nice balance of performance, price, and overclocking capabilities, making it the Best Value RAM For Ryzen 9950X, Ryzen 9900X, Ryzen 9700X, and Ryzen 9600X.

Editor`s Note
Image

When it comes to value, the G.Skill Flare X5 is going to be my top recommendation, and for a good reason. Sure its design might not be the most eye-catching, but it does a fantastic job at providing the best possible price-to-performance, which is something most people will need when looking for a DDR5 kit.

Important RAM Terms To Watch Out For

These are some key RAM terms that everyone should know before making a purchase:

  • AMD EXPO (AMD Extended Profiles for Overclocking): It is an AMD feature that enables pre-configured overclocking profiles for your RAM, allowing you to run your kits at a higher frequency (and lower latency).
  • JEDEC Speed: Before enabling EXPO, your memory modules will be running at JEDEC speeds, which typically fall in the range of 4800-5600 MHz.
  • RAM Timings: These specific settings define how quickly your RAM can perform. They include various delays and speeds, all contributing to how fast your memory can operate.
  • CAS Latency (CL): This is how long it takes your RAM to start giving you the data you asked for after it receives a request. It’s a key part of what determines your RAM’s speed.
  • Frequency: When we talk about RAM’s frequency, we’re referring to how fast it can transfer data. This speed is usually shown in MHz or GHz, with higher numbers generally meaning quicker performance.
  • DIMM Slots: These are slots on the motherboard where the RAM kit is installed. Most motherboards have two or four DIMM slots to accommodate that many RAM kits. Before installing kits, look through your motherboard’s manual to determine the fastest RAM channels.

How Our Team Tested And Reviewed These Kits

To round up the top 5 RAM options that offer the best performance for all Ryzen 9000 processors, we ran several tests on different kits; our main focus was on these aspects:

  • Performance: Our primary testing revolved around the sheer performance we can squeeze out of these kits without running into stability issues. This includes running several AIDA64 benchmarks, trying out different games, and more synthetic benchmarks to evaluate the overall performance.
  • Power Consumption: A RAM’s overclocking potential and stability are directly impacted by its power consumption and how well it dissipates heat. As such, I also scrutinized different kits based on their power efficiency.
  • Design: Overall looks matter a lot, if a RAM is pricey, it should make up for it with some added flair, and I factored it during my tests.
  • Overclocking Capabilities: RAM that allows for some overclocking room is prioritized. In our testing, if the kit can’t push beyond EXPO speeds, it is filtered out.

G.Skill Trident Z5 Royal Neo Test Results

When reviewing, we make the RAMs undergo extensive synthetic and gaming benchmarks. You can find the results below, however, let me tell you about the other kits that we have:

AIDA 64 benchmark results

As usual, we will start with the AIDA 64 Results. In all the benchmarks, the Royal Neo performed superbly. Especially in the AIDA memory Write benchmark and the Latency benchmark, it scored way ahead of the competition, soundly beating them. Against the likes of Dominator Titanium, it came out ahead.

It just goes to show that G.Skill’s memory division knows its stuff when it comes to launching an enthusiast-grade kit.

Cinebench R23 Benchmark results

The picture changes slightly in the Cinebench R23 CPU benchmark, but not a lot. The memory kit didn’t win by a big margin but lags behind a few points to the Corsair Dominator kits. Still, this is an impressive result, and no matter what you throw at this RAM, it will perform at a high level.

Gaming Benchmarks

When tested in games, the Trident Z5 Royal Neo gives top-tier performance in titles like Cyberpunk 2077, Apex Legends, and Black Myth Wukong. The high-performance DDR5 kit consistently delivers high frame rates and doesn’t bottleneck the rest of the hardware at all, in fact, it pushes it to its limit so you get the maximum performance your PC is capable of.

Should You Buy It?

✅ You want high-performing RAM: Well, this pretty much explains it. This RAM kit comes packed under the hood.

✅ You are after a distinct design: The crystalline RGB lighting is not only beautiful but also one of a kind; it is a great way to stand out from the rest.

Don’t Buy It If

❌ Your budget is on the lower end: Expectedly, it is a rather pricey kit, making it out of reach for many gamers.

My Thoughts

After reviewing the Trident Z5 Royal Neo, it has won me over all the way. It’s a remarkable piece of hardware that showcases how far memory technology has come. Being a Tech Geek, I value both performance and aesthetics, and this kit trumps both fronts.

While the RAM’s raw performance is impressive, its luxurious design is the thing that sets it apart. The Crystalline light bar and the polished aluminum spreaders enhance the kit’s thermal performance as well as add to the overall aesthetics of your PC build. G.Skill has put in a lot of effort when designing this RAM, which is why it is a hot commodity among enthusiasts who want their PC to look good while it performs their tasks.

It trumps the competition and does it with a sort of panache that makes it worthy of its price tag. It’s a statement that combines aesthetics with top-notch performance making it more than a high-speed RAM.

  • The CORSAIR DOMINATOR TITANIUM RGB DDR5-6000 CL30 EXPO is a premium Memory kit that is designed for enthusiast-grade PC users and fans of the Corsair brand.
  • You should buy it if you have the cash to splash and will not settle for a RAM that doesn’t come packing performance under its hood.
  • You should avoid it if your budget is on the lower side of things and you don’t need RAM that comes with a premium price tag.

These are the key specs:

Tested Frequency 6000MHz
Tested Latency CL30
RGB Yes
Color Black
Memory Voltage 1.40V
Rated Frequency 4800MHz

You can use our RAM Latency Calculator to get the latency in nanoseconds. For this kit running @ 6000MHz CL30, it is 110ns.

How Is It Different?

The Dominator Titanium is one of Corsair’s premium product lines, and the kits released under this line usually are high performers, come with that premium outlook, and cost a lot since they’re designed for enthusiasts.

Initially, the Dominator Titanium launch was exclusive. Corsair’s intention with the launch was to target a handful of the top 5-8% of high-end PC gamers who are Corsair fans and want a premium experience. However, the product line is here to stay due to its positive endorsement.

While the kit comes packed with performance, its most striking feature is its aesthetic quality.

Packing Box

The kit I am testing the silver-gray color of this kit today. Unlike Corsair’s usual yellow packaging, this kit comes in grey box packaging just to stand out from the rest of Corsair’s memory line-up.

Design

The design of this memory kit has also been switched around. Corsair ships this RAM with a grey heatsink and a black RGB diffuser on top.

They are available in capacities as follows:

  • 2x16GB
  • 2x32GB

The kit has black aluminum covers and an RGB diffuser on top. These kits seem to be heavier than the other DDR5 kits I have tested. Under the hood, it has a 288-pin layout and a black PCB.

You can also see the back label, which shows the part number, serial number, tested speeds, and version 5.43.13 identifying Hynix ICs. The front and back sides contain the CORSAIR Logo, which seems to be the standard with all the Dominator Titanium Lineup kits.

Test Build

CORSAIR iCUE software was installed to control the lighting of this kit. I am not going into the details of iCUE since we have already given extensive coverage in our previous reviews. Here are a few pictures:

I also recorded a video of the RGB effects and uploaded it on our channel:

We are using the mentioned configuration for RAM testing:

We make it a habit to put the RAM kits we review, through synthetic and gaming benchmarks, so our audience has an idea of what kind of performance they can expect from the product. You can check the results below, however, these are the RAMs that we have tested recently

The above RAM kits are the ones that I will be comparing against this RAM kit.

Coming to our benchmarks. Let’s check out the AIDA64 Engineer results and the kit’s performance. The Memory kit doesn’t fail to impress us with its performance capabilities, and in most scenarios, it comes out on top with its other Corsair brothers. Ultimately, it does impress us and justifies its premium price tag in a manner.

When we ran the Cinebench R23 CPU Benchmark, just like the Intel XMP variant, the kit returned a high score. This makes it earn its second place in our RAM comparison. Goes to showcase its impressive performance capabilities no matter what scenario you throw at it. It will perform.

Gaming Benchmarks

Now that you have an idea of how the RAM performs in synthetic benchmarks, let me share the results of the gaming benchmarks:

The CORSAIR DOMINATOR TITANIUM is a top-performing RAM kit and it shows in the benchmark. We tested it in Black Myth Wukong, Cyberpunk 2077, and Apex Legends and it delivers high frames, which just goes to show its capabi

Should You Buy It?

Buy It If

✅ You are a CORSAIR lover and enthusiast: This pretty much explains it. The performance that the RAM is capable of dishing out has impressed us.

✅ You need premium high-performing RAM: If you’re one of those guys who just want the best hardware for your PC and have the cash to splash on it, make sure you buy this RAM as it will push your PC to the limit.

Don’t Buy It If

❌ You are on the lower side of your budget: If you’re running low on budget and can’t spare the bucks, this RAM kit isn’t for you as cheaper options are available in the market.

My Thoughts

I have already reviewed and tested the Corsair Dominator Titanium RGB DDR5-6000 32GB CL30, which comes in white. I was pretty impressed with its performance.

The same is true with this one! While the color is silver grey, the performance is identical, and it looks great when running with the RGB. You will be glad once you buy it.

Next up are the gaming benchmarks. We ran this RAM on three titles; Black Myth Wukong, Apex Legends, and Cyberpunk 2077. You can find the results below:

The Corsair Vengeance performed as per expectations and gave high Frame Rates in all titles. This means that its a high performer and you won’t be facing any sort of bottlenecks in games.

Should You Buy It?

Buy It If

✅You are looking for a price-to-performance RAM: If you’re in the market for a pure Price-to-performance Memory kit that also comes with great RGB effects then this RAM is for you!

✅You are an RGB lover: If you like your memory kits to come with RGB and add to the aesthetic appeal of your build, then don’t hesitate and buy this RAM without hesitation!

Don’t Buy It If

❌ You want to overclock: While you can manually overclock this kit, the 1.40V @ 6000MHz means the room for overclocking isn’t much.

As a Hardware Expert at Tech4Gamers, I blend my Computer Science expertise with a love for technology. Through comprehensive reviews and comparisons, I guide our audience in making informed tech decisions.

With so much competition in the RAM department, G.SKILL has truly stepped up their game. They have come up with products to cater to all types of consumers in the market. From Premium to Budget range, they boast a versatile inventory.

This time, I am reviewing the mid-range G.Skill’s Trident Z5 Neo RGB DDR5-6000 CL30. The RAM kit comes to the market with support for the AMD Ryzen Processors and hence comes with EXPO.

When AMD chose to launch newer processors and provide support for the newer DDR5 platform, there weren’t many options to choose from regarding RAM kits. Now there are more and this Memory kit is here to give a tough time to the competition.

So without waiting further, let’s dive straight into the review!

Why Trust Tech4Gamers
  • Mussab Ali is our PC expert who has a decade-long experience in building, testing, and troubleshooting PCs.
  • 70+ RAM tested and reviewed by our team of hardware experts (Tech4Gamers Team).
  • 200+ hours spent testing different RAM kits for our reviews.

Each review is carefully examined against our strict editorial guidelines, guaranteeing you trustworthy insights you can depend on.

We have also tested and reviewed the G.SKILL Trident Z5 RGB 32GB DDR5-6600 CL34 Kit – it is very similar to the Neo variant except that it supports XMP profiles instead of EXPO.

Key Takeaways

  • The G.Skill’s Trident Z5 Neo RGB DDR5-6000 CL30 is a well-rounded RAM that not only performs great but also doesn’t lag in the aesthetics department.
  • You should buy the G.Skill’s Trident Z5 Neo RGB DDR5-6000 CL30 if you are looking for a price-performance product and don’t want to break the bank either.
  • The only reason to skip the Trident Z5 Neo RGB is if your current DDR5 kit works great with AMD builds.

I will be testing the 2×16 GB 6000 MHz kit as AMD claims that 6000 MHz is the sweet spot for its 7000 series processors. It comes with the 30-38-38-96 timings at 1.35 V.

How Is The G.Skill’s Trident Z5 Neo RGB DDR5-6000 CL30 Different?

It’s a tough competition with so many DDR5 RAM options right now. However, there aren’t more well-rounded Memory kits than G.Skill’s Trident Z5 Neo RGB DDR5-6000 CL30. It has the juice under the hood to push your PC to the limit and dishes performance at a high level. While doing all that, it doesn’t disappoint in the aesthetics department either. If you want the best of both worlds, then this RAM should be considered.

G.SKILL Trident Z5 Neo RGB 32GB DDR5 Test Results

We always test our RAMs with synthetic and gaming benchmarks so that our audience becomes aware and can make an informed decision when they’re looking to buy a Memory kit. These are the RAMs that we tested:

Let’s start with the AIDA64 benchmark results. It performs pretty decently, lagging only behind the much more expensive Corsair Dominator Titanium RGB DDR5 2x 16GB @6000 CL30. But it comes out ahead of the G.SKILL Flare X5 DDR5 2x 16GB @6000 CL32.

In the Cinebench R23 CPU benchmark, it lags behind the other two and is beaten by 3 points by the G.Skill Trident Z5 Neo RGB DDR5 2x 16GB @6000 CL30. It might perform a bit differently in other PC configurations, but it will return a similar score.

Gaming Benchmarks

Next up are the Gaming Benchmarks that we tested on the G.SKILL Trident Z5 Neo RGB 32GB DDR5 kit. We ran and tested the RAM in Cyberpunk 2077, Apex Legends, and Black Myth Wukong. The RAM gave decent FPS and it performed quite close as compared to the rest of the competition you can find the results below:

Should You Buy It?

Buy It If

✅  You want an overall well-rounded RAM: If you are a bit on the lower side in terms of budget but still want to buy an overall well-rounded RAM, that not only performs well but looks good too, then this RAM is for you!

✅ An RGB lover: If you like your memory kits to come with RGB and you want performance and as well as aesthetics in your build, then make sure you buy this RAM.

Don’t Buy It If

❌ You’re already using an AMD DDR5 kit: Given how flawlessly the Trident Z5 Neo RGB performs – the only people I wouldn’t recommend this kit to are those who are already rocking an EXPO-supported DDR5 kit.

My Thoughts

If you want a RAM that has RGB and also doesn’t compromise on the performance, there isn’t a better choice than this one.

It’s a pure price-to-performance product and it does look good when it’s up and running on your PC. If you want more performance, then make sure you have deep pockets, because they will cost more.
